Serious about bikes. Not ourselves.
The Bike Shed Mortdale has been part of the local cycling community for over 28 years. In the last 18 months, I've taken the reins and started writing the next chapter — keeping the things that made the shop part of the community while putting our own stamp on where it goes next.
We're riders ourselves, so you'll find us out on the trails, on the road and generally finding excuses to test bikes and components. That means when we're talking about a product, it's not just because we've read the spec sheet. We ride it, work on it, test it and occasionally argue about whether it's actually any good.
We're mainly a MTB shop, but we're just as happy talking road, gravel, e-MTBs or whatever happens to have two wheels and gets you out riding. From a kid's first bike to a high-end custom build, we believe everyone deserves good advice, quality products and a bike that's right for how they actually ride.
Our workshop is a big part of what we do. From everyday servicing and repairs through to suspension work, wheel upgrades and custom builds, we take pride in doing things properly. We don't believe every problem needs a new bike, and we're not interested in selling you something you don't need. If your bike can be fixed, we'll fix it. If it needs an upgrade, we'll tell you why.
We're also big believers that a bike shop should be more than four walls full of bikes. It's a place to talk trails, compare setups, argue about tyres, swap stories, plan the next ride and occasionally spend far too much money on something you absolutely didn't need.
We're building The Bike Shed around that idea — good bikes, good service, good advice and a genuine connection to the riding community around us.
You'll see that in what we stock, what we ride, the products we test, the people we support and the conversations we have along the way.
That's also what This Week at the Shed is all about — getting riders together, talking bikes and trails, and having a bit of a laugh along the way.
So whether you're chasing seconds, chasing your mates down the trail, building your dream bike, fixing the one you've already got, or just trying to get the family out riding, come in and have a chat.
